Term 2 – Week 2– Tuesday 28th April 2025
Principal News
Mid Semester 1 Update
Welcome back to Term 2. Thank you to our students and parents for maintaining a fantastic start to the year! This is a key time for learning as students set individual goals and focus on core content and skills. Last Term parents had the opportunity to meet with teachers to discuss progress and learning goals. If you missed this, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher for any important updates.
School Uniform – Cooler Weather Reminder
As the cooler months approach, a reminder that Kin Kora State School is a uniform-wearing school. Jumpers must be plain black and hoodie-free. Students wearing non-compliant items will be asked to remove them. Thank you for helping us maintain our high standards.
Attendance Counts – Every Day Matters
Being at school every day makes a real difference to student learning. Our attendance goal remains at 95%. After a disrupted start to the Term, every day counts even more. While students should absolutely stay home if unwell, we ask families to avoid any unnecessary absences.
The Every Day Counts website has helpful advice for parents: Every Day Counts – QLD Education.
Helping Hands – Before and After School Care
Our OSHC program continues to grow! There are still places available and many families benefit from reduced fees through the Child Care Subsidy (CCS). Find more details at Helping Hands Kin Kora. Students arriving before 8.30am should be using this service for supervision.
Parent and Community Code of Conduct
We value strong, respectful partnerships with our parents and community members. School staff are committed to supporting every student’s learning and wellbeing and deserve a safe and respectful workplace.
Our Parent and Community Code of Conduct, first tabled in 2022, will be reviewed this year with input from our P&C. I encourage all families to read it and provide feedback. You can find it on our school website here.
Kin Kora Remembers – ANZAC Day
Last Thursday we held our school ANZAC Service and over the weekend we were proud to see such strong representation from our students and families at both the Dawn Service and the Town Service.
It was fantastic to see so many Kin Kora students choosing to show respect and pride, even during a long weekend when it would have been easy to stay home. Thank you to all our families for supporting this important tradition and demonstrating the true spirit of our community.
Stay Connected – Important Parent Information
To stay informed, ensure you are connected to QParents (contact the office for help), have updated email and mobile contacts, and follow our Facebook page for key updates. Keeping your details current ensures you never miss important school messages.
Don’t forget to advise the school if you change your home address also.
QParents

QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland State School students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is listed first. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for payments, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It is important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
The reality is that any family not connected on QParents runs the risk of not getting information as required.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing nkenn81@eq.edu.au or by phoning (07) 4971 5111 and Mrs Kenny will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your child’s unique EQID number.
Goal: 90% of families signed up to QParents.
Current: 70.41% families signed up to QParents.
Current Percentages by Year Level
Prep | Year 1 | Year 2 | Year 3 | Year 4 | Year 5 | Year 6 |
80.00% | 86.92% | 80.87% | 92.04% | 91.94% | 90.57% | 99.11% |

Attendance Matters
Every day at school is a step forward in your child’s learning journey. Consistent attendance helps children feel connected, confident, and ready to succeed. If your child is going to be away, please notify the office as early as possible. Let’s continue working together to make every day count.
Hats On, Ready to Go
Our school hat is an essential part of the Kin Kora uniform and supports our sun-safe practices. Students are expected to wear their school hat every day for outdoor play and activities. Please check that your child has their named school hat packed each morning—it’s a small item that makes a big difference.

2025 Queensland Engagement and Wellbeing Survey
22nd April to 16th May
Our Year 3 to 6 students are currently participating in an online engagement and wellbeing survey in their classes. The information is completely anonymous and provides the school with
key information across twelve domains, including resilience; school climate; sense of belonging; motivation and perseverance; academic self-concept; personal social capabilities; general life satisfaction; future outlook and aspirations; relationships with peers, with teachers and at home; and general health.
Survey results are intended to inform continuous improvement within schools and provide an evidence-based approach to positively and proactively support students’ mental health, school engagement and wellbeing.
